THE BURN CENTER AT RHODE ISLAND HOSPITAL

Burn Center verification provides a true mark of distinction for a burn center and is an indicator to government, third-party payers, patients and their families, and accreditation organizations that the center provides high quality patient care to burn patients from time of injury through rehabilitation.

The American Burn Association (ABA) in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) offers a program to verify that a burn center is meeting the highest current standards of care for the burn-injured patient.

The Burn Center at Rhode Island Hospital is an American Burn Association (ABA) verified pediatric and adult burn center and is the only burn center in Rhode Island / Southeastern Massachusetts.

Our burn patients come from all parts of Southeastern New England. The Burn Center cared for the majority of survivors of the Station Nightclub fire in 2003. This event inspired the Burn Center’s desire to pursue national center of excellence designation and works hand in hand with the RI Burn Foundation to provide vital resources to the patients and families treated at the Burn Center at Rhode Island Hospital
